Why do Hubbers decided to challenge themselves by writing 30 Hubs in 30 Days?
Is it because the challenge exists?
I did like the idea of writing 30 Hubs in 30 Days from the beginning, and I had the confidence to start and finish. For me, it was a game that I would complete long before the deadline. For other writers, the 30/30 is a pain. If you are new to writing, the 30/30 could bring you some heartache if you aren’t used to writing article after article. But any writing experience is valuable. The 30/30 is not something set in stone, and not completing it doesn’t mean you aren’t taking a hit when it comes to your salary. It is merely a challenge.
You set the writing pace for yourself. If you don’t finish on schedule, you can do the 30/30 some other time. Life happens. Many writers don’t complete the 30/30, but it doesn’t mean they give up on the writing. Whether you finish it or not, the 30/30 will always be there, and you may start or finish at any time.
How to Begin the 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge
Before signing up for this, make sure you really want to do the challenge.
You can make a pact with yourself and decide to write 30 Hubs in 30 days. The idea is to complete 30 Hubs by the deadline. If you miss a few days of writing, you can always catch up and write more Hubs. Or you can write extra Hubs as you go along. These Hubs are “insurance” when you can’t keep up with the 30/30 pace or know you are going to take a few days off from the writing.
If you prefer to work with a group of writers, check the Forum and see if anyone is doing the 30/30 at this time. Not everyone can write in the same time period, but if a group of writers is close enough to a start date, join them. What is the plus of joining others in a group challenge? Here are some reasons:
1) In the Forum, you can state your goals and announce that you have set the 30/30 goal. If you do announce this goal, it could cement your wish to complete it.
2) You share the same goal with others, but all of you usually aren’t going to complete this goal at the same time.
3) As you complete each Hub, you can announce the name of the Hub on the Forum and on the feed. This will draw readers to your work.
4) You can network with other writers who share your goals.
5) You can read Hubs written by other writers. You can comment or get ideas for a Hub.
6) Give encouragement as well as graciously receive it. A writer who receives as well as gives encouragement will usually want to complete those writing goals.
What will you get out of the 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge? You’ll have to find that out for yourself, but it is a positive way to go. Don’t be afraid to take the challenge. You could be very pleased with the results.
I do get emails from people new to HubPages. They want to make the online money right away, but what they don't realize is that you can prepare yourself for online work by building your writing portfolio through HubPages. The 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge is an excellent introduction to online writing because it forces you to create topics and follow through with an article.
Not everyone can be an online writer because it's hard work and takes certain skills. If you can complete the 30/30 Challenge, on Hubpages, this could be a strong indication that online writing is for you. Build your writing portfolio and see what you can do.
Don't jump into online writing and expect to be paid wads of cash. Don't expect to write what you want to write when you go after online work.. You'll find that online writing involves answering to editors.
Work on your writing, build your confidence as a writer, and then go from there. If you do it right, the money will come later. Until then, learn from others, take classes, try networking, and keep writing.
When you build your skills and have a dynamite portfolio to impress any editor, the better chances you have as a marketable online writer.. As a writer, it is your writing that will see you through.

I'll have to reitre before I can do it. Or change jobs withmore time off....:-(
Congratulations on finishing and with a few days to spare. Thanks for picking up the gauntlet and joining me in the challenge. You did great! And you've shared great advice here for others who might be interested in doing the challenge sometime in the future.
I shoot for 40 hubs a month
Congratulations on finishing the challenge. I'll take your advice here the next time I join the challenge. I did join but am one of those who were not able to finish. Sigh.
I could do 30 hubs in five days with a user friendly program.
Wow, you finished the 30 hubs in 30 days? I'm jealous :). I've tried it 2 times but I think the farthest I got was 11 hubs in 11 days. I had a full time job then. Now that I don't have a job, I'm thinking of doing this challenge again. I'm already starting to compile a list of my topics, I think I have 20 plus already. Wish me luck! :)
Way to go Arlene. I love how you view a writer's job in the sense that we need to keep our minds open to learn many subjects or new topics in order to maintain our mind's capacity of knowledgeable ideas to compose.
One can learn these ideals by going through all your hub subjects and become inspired to keep up with their writing career, as I did.
Well written and powerful info. Voted up and useful. I learn something every time I read your work. Your words seem to flow and that is what I seek to do...
Good advice. I started the challenge probably at the wrong time of year...but oh, well. As you say, it's good discipline practice, and if I don't make it this time, there's always the future.
Voted up, useful and interesting.
Hi there, Thanks for the tips. This was my first time tryuing to do the challenge. I believe I had a few problems that kept me form making my goal, plus my P.C. was acting up. I'm going to try again for another 3o days. Hope I get better results. Voted up.
Ah thanks Arlene, I can say the same for you. It would be a great idea to do a hubber gathering of such, meet the faces behind the pages. Wouldn't that be a riot!
See? That’s what I mean. I wrote more than that. I was editing it when it got sucked up the chute. I wasn’t sure what happened, but it was too late.
Okay, I exaggerated. I got it from my mother. She is pure Texan.
I amended that Texas/Florida trash talk to a realistic three a day . . . and still feed the gator. See, I have a warehouse full of articles, book starts, songs, photos, artwork, treasure maps . . . you name it. I have them stacked up on the runway. I got this gig sussed. Run that through your translator. It will come out,”Did you drive to work or bring your lunch?
I am used to keeping the whole layout on my “drawing table”. It never changes unless I ask it sweetly to. I control the color, content and composition. I am used to placing different formats (text, video, Photoshop, ad space, whatever, wherever I please on the works space . . . or technically . . . "canvas").
I make my own templates, control the visual aspects, with complete control of what appears on the “picture plane” (classic art phrase to describe the surface of a computer screen). I am a control freak of the visual experience, but not other people so much.
This system has a personality disorder. I have to kick this anal retentive, mood swinging, European program in the head in the head. Did I just say that twice? It wasn’t on the screen that way. It kills my productivity.
You see a mistake on hub . . . you have to go from the bottom of the page and find the edit button to click. Immediately, it changes into a different format . . . like reaching another realm on a video game. You scroll to the bottom to find the text, but all of the street signs have changed . . . you find the capsule . . . no that was the photo . . . find the text capsule and click . . . it sends you into yet another dimension. Whoops?! Where is that typo? What typo? I forgot. Now I have to read it. Wrong capsule, next one down!
Sorry. I am used to doing a killer lay out and pushing a button, “Publish to Web.”
Your stuff is great! It's all good . It is always exiting to learn, and I have been trained to work eithin parameters. This is a funn meium, and I will be doing all I can with it . . . juat like you.
Thanks for having me.
Thank you for this hub and the inspiration. I couldn't do the challenge in Dec, but I am set and ready to go for it this month.
I owe you one! :)

This the wrong time of year for me to do the challenge. January is better. Choir had to come first.
